del Rios Winery

www.delrios.com.au

del Rios is a family-owned, vineyard, winery, restaurant, and tasting room established in 1996 on the slopes of an extinct volcano, Mt Anakie. Driven by the family’s passion for great food and wine, Gus and Esther del Rio, together with their 3 sons Andres, Joshua and Marcus purchased the property in 1994 and the first vines were planted in 1996. Over the next 26 years, del Rios has blended traditional influences with contemporary techniques to develop a vineyard and winery, where owner and winemaker Gus del Rio, produces a range of low yield, beautifully crafted wines. The wines are elegant, and complex, reflecting the true varietal character of the Mt Anakie site, in the Moorabool Valley region. del Rios wines can be found on restaurant menus, bottle shops and for purchase online, but the best experience is on the estate; a 15-minute drive from Geelong and 1-hour drive from Melbourne. It is in the restaurant where the family philosophy of great wine, food and friends comes together in a wonderful setting. The new building was redesigned to the family’s vision to capitalise on the breathtaking views from the estate and finished construction in 2019. The restaurant uses local and estate-grown produce, that similarly to the wine, offers a blend of traditional Spanish and contemporary cuisine. They have also adopted a paddock to plate approach - breeding their own free-range pasture-fed Black Angus Beef and Texel Friesian Cross Lambs consistent with their approach of creating premium produce from start to finish.
