Henry Collier, design-engineer, successful entrepreneur and winning rider, founded Matchless Motorcycles in 1899 together with his sons, Charles & Harry. Riding his Matchless, Charles Collier won the first Tourist Trophy in 1907, the historic motorcycle race, which still runs today on the Isle of Man. Leading riders of all disciplines quickly chose Matchless for the perfect mix of safety, performance and elegance. Stars like Marlon Brando and James Dean soon followed by were driving their own Matchless motorbikes in the 1950s. Matchless, the oldest British brand of motorcycles, clothing and accessories launches new men's and women's outerwear collections in 2013. To celebrate this new launch, Matchless have created an inspiring advertising campaign featuring Kate Moss, shot on location in MC Motors in Hackney, London by iconic photographer, Terry Richardson. The brand focuses on performance and technical fabrics for off-road outwear and the alliance between motorcycling and design. The Matchless tradition is one of British elegance and luxury in urban mobility as well as technical innovation, originally conveyed in their iconic 1940s’ advertising campaigns. The new Matchless heritage collection celebrates ‘True Men’ like Henry Collier, co-founder of Matchless Motorcycles – brave industrialists, winning racers, innovators, inventors, men who knew how to fight, to endure and to win.
