Out Of Town 4WD
www.oot4wd.com.auHISTORY Out of Town 4WD was established in 1976 by Fred Black, who recognised a market for his skills in designing and manufacturing products for 4WD travelers. It began in his back yard in Wangi Wangi, NSW. The business grew, and soon added other services such as 4WD vehicle maintenance and mechanical repairs, and reselling of quality 4WD accessories. In 1979 the business was relocated to a service station in Argenton, a suburb of Lake Macquarie. This provided a much easier access for the large customer base of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, and the business grew. By 1986 the business had outgrown the Argenton Site. By 1988 the complete business had relocated to Barnsley. The company now provided an extensive range of products and services, and Fred and the team had by this time amassed a wealth of 4WD maintenance, repair, and trip preparation experience. They were active and well known in local 4WD club circles, and through good connections with National 4WD magazines were becoming well known throughout Australia. The company now incorporates four major arms - sales, mechanical workshop, manufacturing and a distribution facility. Sales - The showroom displays a large range of well known and respected 4WD accessories. Workshop - The mechanical workshop undertakes servicing, maintenance and repairs along with fitting of accessories. Manufacturing - The manufacturing division is kept busy in design and production of a large range of long ranger fuel tanks, workshop bodies for light trucks, and other custom 4WD accessories.
