Douglas Land Conservancy
www.douglaslandconservancy.orgMission: Douglas Land Conservancy (DLC) is a non-partisan, non-profit land trust dedicated to the protection and conservation of the natural character, habitat, and open space of Douglas County and other areas within the central Front Range region of Colorado. Douglas Land Conservancy (DLC) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization made up of concerned citizens. Based in Castle Rock, Colorado since 1987, DLC primarily serves Douglas County. However, recognizing the importance of a regional approach in land conservation DLC has recently broadened its focus to include surrounding counties including Jefferson and Elbert. Today, we are actively preserving over 22,500 acres in Douglas, Jefferson and Elbert Counties through conservation easements. All of this is made possible because of generous support from donors, volunteers and land owners. DLC conserves an average of 65 acres each month in Douglas County alone and more than 789 acres annually?! Of that 22,500 acres, 11,102 acres are open to the public and provide great trail and recreational experiences for all to enjoy. 11,398 acres are private lands that protect agricultural operations, open space, scenic viewscapes, critical wildlife habitat, and wetlands from ever being developed. It is DLC’s job to ensure that these properties are protected in perpetuity by visiting each property annually.
