The UCD Biological Society is a voluntary and student-run body devoted to highlighting the beauty and complexity of the natural world. The Society also strives to promote student interest in the biological sciences, raise awareness for conservation and ethical issues and provide career information for aspiring biologists. To this end, the Society hosts many educational and recreational events such as seminars, field trips, coffee mornings, and our seminal George Sigerson Award ceremony where we have had the pleasure to welcome Nobel Laureates Sir Paul Nurse and Prof. Ada Yonath, along with Dr. Beth Shapiro and Prof. Luke O'Neill. The Society has also received a "Best Event of The Year" award for our "Women in STEM" seminar.
