www.megsgift.orgMEG’s Gift, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit grassroots organization whose mission is to positively impact mental health care in the Rochester, NY community through financial support, education and advocacy. The organization was founded in memory of Megan Garbach, who lost her battle with depression in February, 2014. Since 2015, MEG's Gift, Inc. has hosted an annual charity golf tournament which attracts on average 500 attendees each year. Its resounding success has enabled more than $273K to be donated to organizations in the Rochester community that align with the mission of MEG's Gift and increase accessibility to mental health related services. Beneficiaries from past tournaments have included: St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center, the Veteran's Outreach Center, Monroe County’s Consortium on Trauma, Illness and Grief in Schools (TIG), and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). MEG’s Gift is also a regular “Hope Sponsor” for the East House’s Hope & Recovery luncheon series and has also contributed to the Rochester Institute of Technology's Suicide Awareness/Prevention initiative. On an ongoing basis, the team and friends of MEG’s Gift participate in AFSP's Out of Darkness Walks, as well as the annual spring walk hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The vision for MEG’s Gift is simple: to foster a more loving community that better understands, accepts and helps individuals suffering with a mental illness, especially those who are currently underserved and in most need.
