Matchstick is a small team of young writers and artists who are dedicated to bringing readers original journalism and social commentary. We are explicitly queer, feminist, anti-racist, and anti-capitalist in our mission to cover politics, news, social justice, activism, culture and art. Over the past few years, we believe that traditional media sources have failed to hold governments and institutions accountable for matters relating to systemic injustice. As more and more readers are disillusioned by traditional media sources, we aspire to create a space for writers and audiences who seek critical and responsible journalism that isn’t plagued by patriotism, heteronormativity or racial bias. Journalism has the power to influence and shape the world, and we want to be a part of that.
