The creative and business partnership of California girls Sheila Nazarian and Laura Darrah is fast approaching one decade. In 2005, uniting their shared passion and complementary skills, they debuted Treesje. As a line of luxury handbags that infused California cool with New York chic, it was quickly embraced by sophisticated consumers and celebrities including Katy Perry, Fergie, Blake Lively, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Klum, garnering profiles in fashion glossies and entertainment magazines. After six years of building the brand, in 2011 they got an offer and sold the company. Another offer led Nazarian and Darrah to consider their first namesake brand, facilitating the birth of She + Lo. Offering everyday designs with an edge, the new brand debuted its Fall 2014 collection last August in such retail and online stores as Henri Bendel, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Shopbop.com, RevolveClothing.com, as well as select boutiques across the U.S. she + lo will initially focus on handbags, with the goal to expand into a broader lifestyle brand with jewelry, shoes and possibly ready-to-wear apparel. Infused with an urban, West Coast vibe, yet designed to appeal to the sensibility of women across different regions, she + lo embraces custom craftsmanship as well as current trends. Many of its bags are convertible, morphing to reflect personal style, such as those with a longer detachable strap that allows a classic satchel, for example, to be worn long as a hobo or cross-body. Consumers can choose from a variety of shapes, from slouchy bags and messengers to more sturdy totes, clutches and wristlets.
