LMNO | LIVING MIDNIGHT NARRATIVE OUTFIT
www.livingmidnight-narrativeoutfit.comLiving Midnight is a Taoist term. It silences the discriminating mind. In German Romanticism, it is a time when the fairies and fantasies, apparitions and phantasms come to life. Living Midnight Narrative Outfit (INDIA) is a women-owned narrative-based design and research think tank co-located in Ahmedabad and Delhi. Co-founded by Ankita Trivedi and Ishita Jain, We believe in the power of stories as machines to transform the immediate environments through active imagining and sharing across audiences. This optimism drives our design processes. Our multi-media outcomes are filled with unusual and insightful re-interpretations of the world, welcoming wonder and hope. Representations born of interwoven convergent and divergent models of thinking not only illustrate practical solutions simply and elegantly, but they also empower individuals to envisage alternate possible worlds. Since its inception in late 2018, LMNO has worked towards speculative projects through a practice of experimental pedagogy resulting in site-based exhibitions. Both the co-founders have independently and collectively worked on commissioned projects for participatory storytelling, theatrical-cinematic installations, and forms of theory-fiction. Through their design work as well as their current doctoral projects, they explore world-building, ludic interactions and its agency to spore serendipitous events through and beyond the humanistic agency. Currently, they are working on a speculative futures research and documentation project "Sites of Indie-Futurisms: Traditional Indian Board Games" supported by the Graham Foundation.
