Maitland Tower Corp.
www.maitlandtower.caMaitland Tower Corp. is a social enterprise founded in 2016 by Philip Ling, P.Eng. We take our name from the 1828 stone tower on the 13 Acre site along the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Maitland, in Eastern Ontario. The site is being redeveloped with the health of the St. Lawrence River and its natural habitat front and center, following the One Planet Living® Framework. Our goal is to become a place where people improve their own physical and mental health as they connect, wonder at, enjoy, learn and participate in the revitalization of nature across the site and along the St. Lawrence River. We will soon be hosting a Biological Field Station, nature-based recreation & education, aligned events and retreats, and become a hub where organizations of all types come together to brainstorm, create and showcase solutions to create healthier ecosystems. Adaptability and Accessibility are core to the redevelopment as we look to connect a wide diversity of people who have often been left out of nature-based recreation and research activities indoors and outdoors. With the Mohawk Thanksgiving Address providing context, the site will embrace culture, history, science and nature in a fresh start. To achieve our mission, we will working closely with our new not-for-profit sister organization DoorNumberOne.org, local communities, and partnering with organizations on the same journey. We can't wait to host people on our site, in our gardens, in the forest, and on the water. We are under construction for now - stay tuned for more!
