MAY SPACE Online, formerly known as Brenda May Gallery (2001-2016) and Access Contemporary Art Gallery (1985-2001), proudly represents a small group of accomplished Australian artists, whilst also supporting established talent and creating opportunities for emerging artists. In addition, the Gallery fosters young curators and provides platforms for engaging curatorial projects. The Gallery is devoted to promoting artists in Australia and more recently New Zealand, whose works are challenging, compelling and immersive. Expanding further into the Asia-Pacific region, the Gallery has exhibited at Art Stage Singapore and, after two decades of involvement with the Melbourne Art Fair, at Sydney Contemporary. May Space also launched the Black Box Projects in 2014 and is one of the first spaces dedicated to exhibiting moving image artworks in a commercial gallery in Australia, substantiating the Gallery’s commitment to varied contemporary art practices. May Space regularly loans its artworks for exhibitions all over Australia, and has seen several of its artists’ acquired by major institutions such as the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Powerhouse Museum and the Canberra Museum and Gallery. The Galley’s artists are also collected in several regional museums, city galleries and university galleries around Australia, including the Penrith Regional Art Gallery, New England Regional Art Museum, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Murray Art Museum Albury, Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery, Mosman Art Gallery, Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Deakin University Art Gallery and the FCA Gallery of the University of Wollongong and many more. May Space has also been supported internationally with clients from the Yamaki Art Gallery in Japan, Hong Kong’s The Cat Street Gallery and Hastings City Art Gallery in New Zealand.
