Refugee Legal Support is a voluntary organisation run by experienced lawyers practising in EU asylum and international protection law. We set up in April 2017 to show our solidarity with refugees and those working with them. We currently operate a pro bono legal clinic in Athens, Greece. Based at the Athens Solidarity Center (ASC) building, we provide free legal advice for refugees and training for legal support volunteers and interpreters in Athens. Legal advice sessions are facilitated by interpreters drawn from the refugee community, who receive free training and are paid for their work. The RLS-Athens legal clinic works in partnership with Greek lawyers and legal organisations on issues pertaining specifically to the Greek asylum process. The main priorities of our work are: 1) Preparing refugees for asylum interviews 2) Identifying and assisting in obtaining necessary evidence 3) Assisting on family reunion and reunification applications Refugees in need of legal assistance should attend the Athens Solidarity Centre between 9am - 7pm Monday to Friday for an initial assessment by the Social Service of the Centre. After the initial assessment, if we can help, an appointment will be booked with a lawyer.
