Safe Food Matters Inc. is a Canadian charity working to ensure our food is safe. The focus of our work is in the legal and regulatory arena. Our president, Mary Lou McDonald, is a trained lawyer with almost 30 years experience, and our board has experience in academia, business and activism. Our current focus areas are glyphosate, chlorpyrifos, and GM (genetically edited products). We are going to court over the Pest Management Regulatory Agency's rejection, for the second time, of our objections to the 2017 re-registration of glyphosate (in Round-up). The PMRA did not follow the Guidance provided to it by the Federal Court of Appeal in our successful case in early 2022: https://canlii.ca/t/jm3jh. It also crafted a completely new test for public participation that is almost impossible to meet, and made up completely new excuses for not dealing with risks associated with glyphosate, even though they acknowledged the risks.
