Mental Health Skill-building Services (MHSS) is an intensive, home-based service that is designed to assist the client in obtaining independence or stability within the community. The program is available to older adolescents and adults who have long term mental health needs, cognitive deficiencies or dual diagnoses. Our highly qualified staff are guided by a curriculum that focuses on 7 core competencies to promote independent living while managing mental health symptoms and needs. Housing and Transportation Mental Health Employment Money Management Self-Care and Daily Living Personal Development Parenting Individual interventions may include: Assessment of competency and adaptive functioning Evaluation of mental health needs Implementation of an Individualized Service Plan addressing identified needs Up to 10 hours per week of home and community-based support Assistance with accessing and navigating community resources Advocacy within the medical, educational, social service and psychiatric systems Psycho-education and skills-training to improve independent living Frequent communication and collaboration with associated professionals and treatment team members
