Flamenco y Sol Dance Company, under the guidance of its Artistic Director, Glenda Sol Koeraus, is the product of Ms. Koeraus’ vision to offer audiences the ability to experience one of the most exciting and passionate art forms — Flamenco. Established in 2005, Flamenco y Sol Dance Company is based in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The Company features a diverse repertoire including Traditional Flamenco, Contemporary Flamenco, Flamenco Jazz Fusion, Classical Spanish Dance and the more modern Gypsy Kings-style of Flamenco Rumba. ARTISTIC VISION Glenda Sol Koeraus, “La Argentinita,” is a Buenos Aires-born Flamenco dancer and choreographer who has graced both national and international stages, establishing herself as one of the top flamenco artists in New York City. An innovator, she specializes in introducing Flamenco throughout various performance genres: Ballroom, Opera, Broadway and Theatre. Sol has been described by the New York Times as “seductively aggressive” and by Theater Online as “a master of her craft”. Ms. Koeraus believes that Flamenco is a vehicle to unite cultures and promote diversity. The Andalusia Region of Spain is the birthplace of Flamenco where the melodies, lyrics and dances of the Native Iberians, the North Africans, the Sephardic Jews and the Spanish Gypsies collided creating a glorious tapestry that we see today. Ms. Koeraus is of the understanding that it is important to preserve the traditional Flamenco, while giving plenty of room for new interpretations of Flamenco to flourish.
