www.icgmc.orgInterfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization established in 1994 to improve the quality of life and help meet the concerns and special needs of the homebound elderly and people with disabilities in Mercer County, NJ. Our mission Our overall mission is to promote the independence and dignity of homebound elderly and people with disabilities by matching them with supportive and caring volunteers who assist them with the tasks of everyday life. What we do We are a coalition of 27 interdenominational member congregations with more than 300 dedicated volunteers who cheerfully provide free services — such as transportation to doctors’ offices, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, respite care, light housekeeping, telephone reassurance, occasional meal preparation, indoor/outdoor chores, minor home repairs and other non-medical help — that enable care receivers to remain in their homes. Our free services are offered without proselytization and without regard to race, religion, color, income or national origin. As part of our services, ICGMC also offers socialization activities for seniors and a myriad of educational training forums on such topics as Alzheimer’s, dementia, sensitivity issues, and caregiving of the elderly. To help take care of the caregivers, we provide workshops on stress relief, hold wellness retreats for our generous volunteer group leaders, and sponsor community workshops, guest speakers, and exhibit at caregiver conferences and events.
