HALIO (founded in 2006) is an independent learning center and our purpose is to develop an entrepreneurial spirit in our community of multilingual international children. We believe that the modern child needs to create their own adventures in learning, to design their own challenges, and invent their own risk-taking thresholds for manifesting their best selves. We currently serve 40 students ages 7-12 in our Primary School (and an additional 15 students age 3-6 in Kindergarten), in trimesters scheduled evenly through the year. We are reinventing ourselves to become more aligned with progressive project-based education. Recognizing that relationships and ownership are fundamental to success in learning, our team is working toward guiding students through gradually increasing levels of independence. Our teaching philosophy encourages meaningful inquiry and interdisciplinary work, and we utilize blended learning to meet the needs of each student — leveraging the power of technology to personalize the classroom. We at HALIO are seeking dedicated teachers to join our intimate community and keep our children running to school in the mornings.
