FIRST THINGS is a monthly journal on religion, culture, and public life. The journal was founded by Richard John Neuhaus in 1990, and the editorial offices are based in New York City. FIRST THINGS is published by the Institute on Religion and Public Life, an interreligious, nonpartisan research and education institute whose purpose is to advance a religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society.
