Dhaka Comicon (DCC) is an annual pop-culture event which has been taking place in Dhaka, Bangladesh since 2012. The event is dedicated to comic books, movies, video games, cosplay, art, collectibles, manga, Kpop, television and music. The inaugural event took place in December 2012 at Dhaka’s Bench Café. It has been an annual event since. The event initially started off as a two-day event but later was expanded to three for the first time in 2014. Jamuna Future, Park, Banani Chairman Bari Field and Midas Center, have all played hosts to the pop-culture extravaganza. The 2014 edition Dhaka Comicon ‘Age of Brilliance’ was held in an open field for the first time. The 2015 edition was notable for featuring foreign guests from India, Italy and USA for the first time. Since 2016, Dhaka Comicon has focused more on promoting local talent. In the 2017 edition, for the first time a local comic book was launched at the event and also held a short film contest for prospective directors. Fanart, Action Figure Photography and Cosplay competition has been a regular feature. Comic Book, Cosplay and guest panels also take place frequently. Dhaka Comicon has also featured many notable bands performers over the years including Cryptic Fate, Nemesis, Indalo, Xefer, Uptown Lokolz and DJ Sonica. Dhaka Comicon has also spawned two spin-off events in the form of The Haunted Halloween Weekend and Chittagong Comic Con. The first Haunted Halloween Weekend took place in 2016 and the first Chittagong Comic Con in 2019.
