RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)
www.wapellocouw.orgRSVP is one of the nation's largest volunteer networks for individuals aged 55 and older. Volunteers confront the most critical needs within their communities. Our program matches the skills and interests of its volunteers to these needs. Volunteers choose how much time they want to give and where they would like to serve, using the skills they have developed throughout their lifetimes. They often gain new skills through their service. Current options for service: American Gothic House, Americorps Green Iowa weatherization, Art Walk, Community garden, Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, Fair Field Productions, Fairfield Public Library, Habitat for Humanity/ReStore, Hospice, Iowa State Extension, Maharishi School, Milestones/Senior Center, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, Noah's Ark, Pence Elementary School mentoring/pen pal/tutoring, The Lord's Cupboard food pantry, Vietnam Wall That Heals, and VITA tax service. Just go to our website: www.wapellocouw.org, find the "Latest News" column, and click on the "Learn more about becoming an RSVP Volunteer." You will view there an interview of three RSVP volunteers in Fairfield who share their experiences. For more information: Call John Miller at 641-919-4242 or email j.miller@wapellocouw.org.
