The Money Hub

www.moneyhubnyc.org

The Money Hub teaches financial literacy to teens and adults in disadvantaged neighborhoods. The Money Hub was established in 2016. Its inception was based around helping the lower-income and immigrant neighborhoods of New York City. Our mission is to teach personal finance in disadvantaged neighborhoods to prevent future financial ailments and increase quality of life. The Money Hub gained momentum by winning The Community Engagement fellowship from The Colin Powell School at City College of New York. The fellowship provided resources to start-up the program and implement it in the surrounding Harlem, New York neighborhood. The Money Hub interacted with an overwhelming majority of young high school graduates or dropouts who were struggling with managing their finances. The team at The Money Hub believes this struggle can be mitigated by providing timely, objective information that teaches core values of personal finance (that public education has since failed to provide). We designing and hosting workshops that teach personal finance, provides unbiased financial advising, and closely administering and monitoring feedback to improve the workshops while gauging its impact. These workshops are led and formulated by highly motivated and talented college students who are trained in financial literacy. Our workshops empower people to take charge of their finances, pass on this new found knowledge to family and friends, and minimize future financial ailments.
