I am a native Vermonter. I earned degrees from the University of Vermont, and the University of Wyoming College of Law. As the first college graduate in my family, I worked three jobs to support myself through college and volunteered my time in many campus and community organizations. In law school, I was an editor of the Land and Water Law Review and was elected president of the Women’s Law Forum. My accomplishments while in law school included representing a client in a California death penalty case, receiving a unanimous faculty award as the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Law Student and learning how to two-step. After law school, I returned to Vermont and was admitted to practice law in Vermont in 2000. I first served as Vermont Trial Court Law Clerk and Chief Trial Court Law Clerk, where I had the honor of assisting many of Vermont’s trial judges with legal research and writing and managing and supervising the law clerk program. I developed my trial practice initially, at Burlington and Middlebury, Vermont law firms and as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Vermont in the Human Services Division. I opened KFR Law in July of 2013 to in Bristol, Vermont to be closer to home. I have represented clients in Vermont Trial Courts and Administrative Tribunals, the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, United States Bankruptcy Court, the Wyoming and Vermont Supreme Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. I am a current member of the Vermont Association for Justice and past member of the Vermont-ACLU legal panel, Central Vermont American Inns of Court, Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Dismas of Vermont, a home for former prison inmates. When I am not practicing law I spend time with family and friends. I try to enjoy life, see the world and find balance by hiking, riding my motorcycle, doing yoga, playing my guitar, reading, writing and cooking soup.
