At Jalan-Jalan Initiative, our mission is to create opportunities for people from rural communities in Terengganu, Malaysia to better their livelihoods through tourism. As a social enterprise, we aim to create and nurture economic, social and environmental value in underserved communities in rural Terengganu by increasing access to the benefits of sustainable tourism. Our goal is to connect entrepreneurs and microenterprise owners from rural areas of Terengganu to the tourism marketplace while preserving and celebrating Terengganu’s unique cultural heritage and traditions. Our collaborative partners include women enterpreneurs and microenterprise owners, community-based tour guides, and projects that support and employ people with disabilities.
