Our Vision To foster the development of a disaster resilient Canada through individuals, communities and businesses. Mandate: To increase community resiliency through emergency preparedness programs that drive individuals, small enterprises and non-profit organizations from awareness to action. We Believe In... The shared responsibility of all Canadians in the development of a disaster resilient Canada. The balancing of economic, social and environmental considerations in the formulation of policy by government in consultation with the disaster management community. The professionalism of the individual tasked with disaster management responsibilities. The interaction and sharing of knowledge between international disaster management organizations. Our Purpose: To provide assistance to the disaster management community through consultation, access to information and the delivery of applicable programs and services. To be a national advocate for disaster resilient communities across Canada. To provide leadership to Canada's disaster management community as its premier advocate. To foster soundly researched public policy that reflects the interests of a more disaster resilient Canada. To foster the establishment and maintenance of professional standards, best practices and certification for the disaster management community. To influence government policy in a positive, visible, consistent and representative manner. To improve communications between the disaster management community, private sector and all levels of government. To liaise with the international disaster management community as Canada's premier advocate.
