hyQ Academy is a Low-profit Limited Liability Company that offers services to people who are interested in pursuing a STEM education or career. The education programs offered, lead to opportunities for gaining knowledge and interest through practicing creative thinking skills while learning STEM related content. This process is called, Creativity Focused Learning (CFL), which is a novel pedagogical process developed to help people think more creatively through the use of our proprietary Divergent Thinking exercises. Our commercially available programs encompass academic coaching, 6-12 grade STEM summer camps, and co-operative apprenticeship programs for select STEM careers. At hyQ Academy our social mission is to provide education services with a focus on STEM education issues and make a difference in the diversity of people pursing STEM careers. Currently, the retention rate of students in STEM fields is low, especially for underrepresented groups. The purpose of this social enterprise is to create avenues for underrepresented groups to succeed in STEM careers by providing funding toward STEM based after school programs to low income neighborhoods.
