British School at Athens

www.bsa.ac.uk

The mission of the British School at Athens (BSA), deriving from its statutory object as a UK-based charity, is to conduct, facilitate and promote research of international excellence in all periods – from the Palaeolithic to the present – and across all humanities and social science disciplines. It is therefore the United Kingdom’s hub for advanced research in these disciplines in Greece and its wider Balkan, Levantine, Mediterranean, and European contexts. The research it conducts, facilitates and promotes makes significant original contributions to knowledge, offering long-term perspectives on contemporary questions. The BSA is probably best known for its long history of archaeological research at many locations in the eastern Mediterranean, with a strong focus on Greece, and including some ‘household names’, such as Knossos, Sparta and Mycenae. Locations include Cyprus, western Turkey and Egypt, as well as many sites in the Aegean from Macedonia, through Epiros and Thessaly to Boeotia, Attica and the Peloponnese, and on many islands including Crete, the Cyclades, Euboea, Kythera and Chios. Get involved: * participate in one of the fascinating BSA lectures: in London, Athens, Knossos, or online (https://www.bsa.ac.uk/events/) * learn new skills with a BSA internship or volunteer placement (https://www.bsa.ac.uk/join-us-2/volunteers-and-interns/) * join a BSA course, learning through visits to Greek museums and archaeological sites (https://www.bsa.ac.uk/courses/) * support the internationally renowned work of the BSA (https://www.bsa.ac.uk/join-us-2/become-a-supporter/)
