Belgian Civil Drone Council
mobilit.belgium.beThe Belgian Civil Drone Council or BCDC is an advisory body dedicated to the development and promotion of the Belgian professional drone sector while ensuring a high level of safety. It has been launched in July 2019 on a joint initiative of the Belgian Minister of Transport, the Belgian civil aviation authority (DGTA/DGLV) and skeyes, the Belgian Air navigation service provider. It brings together all professional actors involved in the development of the drone market from supervisory authorities (DGTA/DGLV, Federal and local police, FPS Economy), civil and military air navigation service providers (skeyes and Defence), drone sector’s representatives (Belgian Drone Federation, EUKA, Skywin, Agoria…), UAS operators, remote pilot to the research world (SPW…). It provides a platform to discuss on technological, operational and regulatory topics. As a outcome to these discussion, the BCDC can issue recommendations or proposals to public authorities such as DGTA/DGLV or directly to the drone sector. The BCDC is consulted in the implementation of the EU regulation on drones and plays a major role in the discussions to make military controlled zones (e.g. HTA) more accessible to civil UAS operations.
