The Atlantic Rancher Company
www.atlanticrancher.comThe Atlantic Rancher Company was founded in 1995 by Engle Saez, in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Saez, at the time a retail executive with management stints at Timberland and at Sperry Top-Sider under his belt, had AtlanticRancher brewing inside him for the better part of 10 years. After he could no longer ignore the gravitational pull of an entrepreneur’s vision, he tapped his own funds and put chokeholds on friends and family to help finance the launch of the company. With a natural instinct for marketing and an incurable fascination for functional, authentic products, he dove headfirst into the venture and quickly assembled an enthusiastic, albeit ragtag crew of 12 that together, with profoundly higher levels of desire than experience...willed the company into existence. From a small office carved from an old sail loft in the Marblehead Boat Yard, overlooking Marblehead Harbor, (address: Through The Boat Yard, Under The Crane and Up The Stairs) the AtlanticRancher Company designed, sourced and marketed a collection of premium-quality, rugged, authentic outdoor apparel, footwear and accessories - featured in catalogs with unusual, salt-of-the-earth copy and compelling depictions of real-life “Atlantic Ranchers” who lived and worked along the Atlantic seacoast. Most notable of these “Ranchers” were two men from Beach Haven, New Jersey: “Uncle Jack” Scheimreif and “Capt. Bob” Gaskill, both of whom had a profound influence on Saez as a young man and whose lifestyles and character, in large part, inspired the ethos of the company. AtlanticRancher became known for its collection of authentic, premium-quality rugged outdoor apparel, footwear and accessories - featured in catalogs with unusual, salt-of-the-earth descriptions. After a long time out, the company that introduced “Ideas From A Lifetime At Sea” is now building limited quantities of its most appreciated “ideas” on a made-to-order basis.
