www.emsoni.orgEMSONI – The Voice of Ethnic Minority Sports, Northern Ireland Ethnic Minority Sports Organisation Northern Ireland (EMSONI) was established in 2018 as the first and the leading community based multi-sports organisation for the development of ethnic minority sports in Northern Ireland with the purpose of creating opportunities to increase participation and improve performance, and to significantly use sport as a tool to promote social development initiatives with the aim of promoting integration, inclusion, diversity, social justice and cohesion. EMSONI is an "umbrella" body – representing and driving the sports interests and affairs of all ethnic minority groups in Northern Ireland with the view to make a big difference and achieve positive social change. EMSONI is an independent and a non-profit organisation, every pound earned by the organisation is reinvested in the work of the organisation. It is an apolitical voluntary organisation – lobbying and advocating for laws, policies and programmes that support the attainment of sports’ needs of migrants. We stimulate conversation among communities from different backgrounds on topical issues that affect our collective interest and back it up with action plans that guarantee a shared, sustainable and sporty society. Our work to foster a shared and diversified society was recognized by the Office of the Lord Mayor of Belfast with a Lord Mayor’s Certificate of Unsung Hero in April 2019 EMSONI Vision “Strengthening a Shared, Sustainable and Sporty Society.” EMSONI Mission Statement “A megaphone of a society that is sports friendly, recreative, all-inclusive, diversified and fair to all – where people from different ethnicities can regularly participate in the same sports and physical activities without any discrimination.”
