Adopticum
www.adopticum.seIn 2008, ProcessIT Innovations, a part of Luleå University and the regional Innovation System in northern Sweden performed a survey amongst the process industry. The objective was to uncover areas the industry saw necessary to strengthen for continued growth and competitiveness. The need for robust measurement technology was clearly stated and spawned the idea to create a center for robust, industrial optics. This is how Adopticum came to be. The initiative came from Skellefteå based optics manufacturer Optronic AB in co-operation with ProcessIT Innovations. The largest financial contribution came from Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrland, a foundation working to support regional societal development. Adopticum was established as a foundation to be able to work freely without any owners expecting dividends. The mission is to be a driving force behind industry take-up of non-invasive measurement technology in order to create competitiveness, new companies and regional growth. Adopticum primarily work with the process industry in the northern region of Sweden, but engage in any project where we can be of use. In a globalized world, regional development is a global matter. Activities are not exclusive to the process industry. Adopticum has initiated and participated in projects relating to healthcare, the care of elderly, industrial security and much more. Our network is extensive, reaching into all parts of Sweden and parts of Europe to. Adopticum is a development center that initiates and contributes with key competence in development- and innovation projects where both problem owners and solution providers are represented. The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of project participants and ultimately enforce regional growth. Adopticum shall not sell any products nor claim any IPR´s resulting from the project.
