For most of my executive career, I ran large scale operations (think lots of people following processes, supported by technology) and because of the sorts and size of organisations I worked in, I was also responsible for managing people matters, a significant departmental budget, development of departmental and business unit strategies, management of risk, procurement of goods and services, process improvement and oversight of regulatory and legal issues impacting my department. I got to travel regularly across Europe, Asia and North America, got some great leadership training and was exposed to many challenges connected with running significant departments in global organisations. In fact, there are probably not that many scenarios that I haven’t come across and which I have had to navigate a way through. In 2016, I started working for myself and, using my 25+ years of executive experience, I now provide on-demand COO services to start-ups. I work with Founders/CEOs of technical start-ups and pick up pretty much anything the Founders do not how to do, don’t want to do or don’t have time to do. My years of experience enable me to quickly identify weaknesses and opportunities in their businesses and to propose remedial solutions but also solutions for the longer term. If I can't fix the issues, I almost certainly know someone who can. My clients value my pragmatic approach, the flexibility my model brings to them and, my services cost them significantly less than hiring a full-time member of staff. Phil Webster, Founder
