Maritime Transport Agency (MTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia represents the National Maritime Authority, responsible for the effective implementation of organizational and legal instruments in the maritime field derived from national and international requirements covering the following areas: · Regulation of Georgian maritime sector by ensuring the maritime safety and security of Georgian ports and merchant fleet flying the Georgian flag · Coordination of marine pollution prevention · Performance of search and rescue operations · Vessel traffic monitoring in the territorial waters of Georgia · Proper functioning of the seafarers training and certification system · Development of statistical and strategic directions
