www.memphis.edu

The Department of Computer Science provides excellent programs at all levels of study, and its faculty and students seek to excel in research and applications in fields where computation is of significant importance. We prepare students who can make a difference in a rapidly changing world. In addition to traditional bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in computer science, we offer graduate certificates in Cyber Security and Information Assurance and Data Science. Our programs build on solid foundations and on laboratory experiences to provide our graduates with a stimulating combination of knowledge and effective computing skills that enable them to become effective problem solvers. Our faculty members are not only dedicated teachers, but also highly productive researchers actively involved in advancing the state-of-the-art in various exciting fields. We have 2 IEEE Fellows, an ACM Distinguished Speaker, and the first state-endowed chair of excellence in computer science in Tennessee. Our students have received university, national, and international awards, while our alumni are in highly sought-after industry and academic positions. We are one of the most highly research-active departments at the UofM. We offer numerous student opportunities, including an undergraduate cyber security concentration, accelerated B.S./M.S. program, an internship program for academic credit, and ACM and Women in Computing (WIC) student chapters.
