The Association of France Alumni in Kenya (AFRAKEN) is an Association of postgraduates who completed their studies in France, residing and/or working in Kenya. The Association is also open to all current postgraduates. The association is to provide a forum whereby individuals of diverse academic backgrounds, having returned from their studies in France, may interact with each other and freely exchange opinions and ideas through various social, cultural, educational and scientific activities. The mission of AFRAKEN is to strengthen ties between its alumni, both in Kenya and abroad; to maintain and expand academic and personal contacts with scientists of French institutions; to expand the knowledge of French culture among its alumni and Kenyan students and Kenyan schools. It provides this by: * Providing a forum for alumni of French Universities to interact with each other in a mutually beneficial way. * Using the experience, knowledge and insights gained by alumni during their study and research stays in France to benefit the current generation of scholarship holders and others interested in studying in France in the future. * Contributing to deepening and extending academic exchange between alumni and French host universities/research centres, thereby making a positive contribution to the internationalisation of higher education. * Being a good link between the French Embassy and the Alumni work stations.
