Oscar Winning Director, Danny Boyle once said in an interview, “The truth is, for me, it’s obvious that 70, 80 percent of a movie is sound,” he says. “You don’t realise it because you can’t see it.” With the advent of consumer Virtual Reality, the impact of sound in the user experience has become more important that ever. Now that the viewer is centrally placed, within the entertainment medium, the use of 3D, Spatial Audio allows for storytellers to direct the view of the audience and thought sound cues as in the real world (like when someone calls our name) and therefore negates the need for visual cues or voice led narrative, which ultimately breaks the suspension of disbelief and therefore, the feeling of presence.
