Forsyth County Young Leaders Program

www.fcyoungleaders.org

We are a group of high school leaders determined to make a change in Forsyth County for the better - for our parents, our brothers and sisters, our friends, our neighbors and ourselves. We created the Forsyth County Young Leaders Program to give students exposure to and increased awareness of the opportunities available to them in the community, to help them gain personal and professional experience and knowledge, and to work towards making Forsyth County a better place together. Through monthly meetings at Wake Forest University with ideas and guidance presented by keynote speakers, mentors and mentees work together through discussions about community issues and project collaboration. In collaboration with Wake Forest University, Winston Starts, and other community organizations, we are giving 25 high school leaders across Forsyth County access to unique mentorship opportunities offered by established leaders within our community. By providing high school leaders with meaningful, one-on-one mentors with similar career and personal interests, mentees grow in their confidence, both educationally and socially. The program will include educational seminars on character, leadership, personal growth, and guidance on the process of applying to college and scholarships. Students will also be given leadership training and learn the importance of social responsibility and service to others. The program is completely free for students and transportation can be arranged if needed.
