www.lawadv.org.ukThe Latin American Women's Aid is a dedicated free support service and the only refuge provider in the UK and Europe for Latin American, Black and minority ethnic women and children experiencing, recovering or at risk of gender based violence, in particular domestic violence. We welcome BME women from any background, ethnicity, sexuality or ability, including trans* women. LAWA's vision is of a world in which all women and children are free from violence and oppression and can achieve self-determination. Our mission is to ensure Latin American and other Spanish and Portuguese speaking BME women and their children work together to end violence and achieve self – determination. We offer a wide range of person-centered, holistic and intersectional services and projects out in the community and at LAWA, identifying women and children at risk of abuse and offering a lifeline to those fleeing domestic violence. All our services are facilitated in our client’s own language in women-only safe spaces, conceived through a framework of a rights-based empowerment strategy and accredited by quality standards such as Advice Quality Standard.
