Tradition states that Donald Wyman Close quit his employer when they ceased giving employees turkeys as a Christmas bonus. He founded DW Close Company based on the principal that he would share his success with his employees. As an electrical engineer with a degree from the University of Washington, he took particular interest in commercial, industrial, and government work.
