SurreyCares Community Foundation
www.surreycares.orgOur Vision: A giving, connected community. Our Mission is to: Inspire Donors, Grow Endowments and Invest in People We’re a registered charity, and a member of Community Foundations of Canada. We’re non-political and non-partisan. Funds established with us, or monies added to our broader needs-based Smart and Caring Community Fund, are managed by independent professional money managers under the supervision of our Board of Directors. Money earned from the invested capital is used to make grants that support a wide range of local initiatives, such as health and social services, education, arts and culture, youth programs, new immigrant services, environment, and economic development projects. Where we add value, compared to setting up and managing your own private endowment fund, is in the following areas: • lower administrative costs found by pooling many independent accounts into one large investment portfolio • detailed reporting services • annual CRA tax filing done on behalf of member fundholders • grant-making support • community knowledge • security and services provided by the Community Foundations of Canada infrastructure to which we belong • continuity and stability of support for causes even as organizations come and go • as we grow and develop, new programs (e.g. training), services, and information will be made available to member fundholders You are invited to join our occasional newsletter list for news about grant application openings, community forums, our new Vital Signs research project, and an invitation to come to our annual grant ceremony where you will discover just how much impact our grants -- both yours and ours -- have in our community. To sign up, visit our website, www.surreycares.org. [UPDATED: January 7, 2015]
