USOMI Limited is a technical services provision company that seeks to address the poor adoption of agricultural technologies and farming best practices in Africa. Our goal is to increase access by smallholder and medium scale farmers to high quality inputs, high value markets and data-aided decision support. We are particularly driven by the challenges that smallholder farmers in rural communities’ face with respect to the segmented nature of the value chains they operate in. Farmers cannot easily access inputs and services, are fleeced by well-connected middlemen who deny them direct access to high value markets, as well as the unpredictable supply of produce, most of which doesn’t meet market requirements in terms of quality and quantity. Additionally, there is widespread use of inappropriate germplasm, technologies and husbandry practices in relation to production environment resulting in poor yields. Many farmers do not have a ready market for their produce. This serves as a disincentive for farmers to invest their resources in inputs such as hybrid seeds and fertilizers. We seek to provide solutions to these challenges using latest technologies and strategies.
