With the world constantly changing, children require a different set of skills to thrive in the 21st century. Classroom education by itself is just not enough to prepare our children for the future. Children are valuable stakeholders in society and in the planet’s future. For too long, education has focused on content rather than character. In the race to find the fastest, strongest and the very best, education has forgotten to be relevant to the child. By valuing marks and grades over empathy and compassion, learning has become limited to textbooks and finds little application in the real world. DFC is a movement that seeks to help children become more sensitive to their surroundings, to analyze situations that would benefit from the change, to devise a solution, and to execute their ideas. This helps develop a sense of ownership and responsibility about the world around them. Through the simple 4-step Design Thinking process of Feel-Imagine-Do-Share, DFC has enabled children around the world to bring positive change to their environment. From potholes to child marriage, adult literacy to female infanticide, there is no challenge too big for DFC children to solve.
