I work in two distinct fields. In no particular order: 1. Clinical psychologist in private practice I provide psychosexual therapy and psychotherapy for individual adults and couples facing a range of mental, emotional, and spiritual problems. Treatment modalities include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprogramming (EMDR), and mindfulness-based interventions. I provide tele-assessment of patient suitability for clinical trials and conduct psychotherapy to clients in remote locations via Skype. I act as clinical reviewer of outcomes measures related to mental health. 2. Translator, localizer, and linguistic validation consultant I translate between Afrikaans and UK English, US English, and South African English. I provide linguistic and project management services to international agencies developing patient-reported outcomes (PRO) material for use in clinical trials. As linguist, I work in the medical, psychological, psychiatric, and pharmaceutical fields.
