The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) was founded in 1966 as the premier multi-disciplinary research institute in Korea. Its main goal is to lead Korea’s science and technology infrastructure in research, development, and transfer of creative, original technologies. The main campus is located in Seoul with branch campuses in Gangneung and Jeonbuk, Korea. KIST Europe was established in Saarbruecken, Germany to facilitate collaboration with the European community. Research areas include brain science, biomedical science, materials/devices, robotics/systems, energy, environment, and life/health.
