We’re not an ordinary landlord or even an ordinary housing association: Hilldale HA is a specialist Housing Association, developing and managing high quality housing to people who need additional support. Most of the people that have chosen us to be their landlord have learning disabilities, autism or enduring mental health problems or physical disabilities. We know that when it comes housing, people with disabilities often don’t have much say over where they live or who they live with… we created Hilldale Housing Association in 2009 so we could do something about it. We believe that every person has the right to have the same life experiences and opportunities as everyone else: to actively contribute to society, to make friends and to live their life in a way that is meaningful to them. We only provide accommodation that we’d be really happy to live in ourselves. We know that if we provide good quality services, people will choose us to be their landlord and choose to stay with us for the long term. We are a not for profit company, meaning that any money we do make is put back into providing more, good quality homes or investing in better services for our tenants. We are a Registered Provider of Social Housing with Homes England. We are not support providers as that is not our expertise. We work in close partnership with a few excellent organisations to make sure that the people we house receive the care and support they need in a safe environment. We have housed many people since 2009, but the numbers are irrelevant… what is important to us are the changes we see in people’s lives that choose us to be their landlord. Some are small changes, some are huge… all are significant to us.
