Established in 2018, Kolkata Gynecological Oncology Trials and Translational Research Group (KolGOTrg) is dedicated to improving quality and duration of life for women with gynecological cancers in Eastern India, through creation of focused research platforms involving scientists and clinicians across the region. KolGOTrg drives their collaborative ventures mainly focussing on: a. Clinical trials Goals of these trials are (i) to determine the effectiveness of a treatment relative to the best current standard of care, or (ii) to assess whether a new treatment is as effective as the standard, but associated with less toxicity, cost or better quality of life. b. Observational and screening studies Through these observational and screening studies, their design, execution and analysis, based on sound scientific and ethical criteria, KolGOTrg aims to detect realistic and clinically relevant information and patterns to identify and treat accordingly, to create an important difference in overall or progression-free survival. c. Translational. The definitive source of guiding decisions in clinical practice and implementation comes from a translational research approach, especially when the magnitude of the expected treatment difference involves providing new innovative treatment solutions for women suffering from gynecological cancers. The lab to clinic field is a huge leap consisting of strenuous research, ethical commitments and dedicated clinicians and focused researchers creating the bridging link. Participating institutes are: Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute (SGCCRI) Tata Medical Center (TMC) National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB) Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER-K) Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine (CSTM)
