Summit Ecological Consulting

Summit Ecological Consulting (SEC) is a niche ecological & natural resources firm dedicated to providing a better project management experience for development companies and large environmental & engineering firms. In order to provide our services as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, we specialize in three key areas: bats, botany, and wetlands. Our CEO (that’s Chief Ecology Officer), Jason Whittle, is a federal endangered species recovery permit holder for the Indiana bat and the northern long-eared bat across their ranges. As a result, SEC is one of only a few ecological firms in the entire United States able to directly offer mist-netting, acoustic monitoring, and radio-telemetry surveys. Our clients turn to SEC when they need help navigating compliance issues or communicating with agency regulators. We’ve spent years managing projects involving a variety of habitats and species, and have cultivated productive working relationships with state and federal regulatory officials. Clear and respectful communication is one of SEC’s core values, and – we believe – one of the keys to streamlining a seemingly complicated process into a successful result. SEC offers development companies the scientific knowledge and regulatory expertise inherent in much larger ecological firms, but without the overhead. We’re also a great resource for large firms who don’t have a federal endangered species recovery permit holder in-house; for these entities, SEC functions as a seamless extension of their existing team and enables them to increase the scope of work they can offer their clients. At SEC, we pride ourselves on our ability to be nimble and responsive. We guarantee a single point-of-contact on every engagement, ensuring that our clients have a dedicated partner from start to finish. Wherever the regulatory challenges exist in your process, SEC can help you navigate them legally and efficiently.
