The Southern Pine Inspection Bureau is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the maintenance of high quality standards in the Southern Pine industry. Its financial support is derived wholly from the manufacturers of Southern Pine but the benefits extend to everyone engaged in the production, sale and distribution of Southern Pine as well as to those who specify and purchase Southern Pine Products. More than 95% of the production of the industry is classified and sold according to the SPIB grading rules. The SPIB provides mill quality audit services and technical assistance through a field staff of approximately twenty representatives.
