IE Search Fund Club
clubs.ie.eduSearch Funds are an alternative and innovative entrepreneuship model based on the acquisition of a small/medium size profitable, growing company to run it as General Manager. It has two phases, the first one consists in raising Capital for a search of viable companies to acquire. These companies are usually single owned and with no perspective of a future manager to pass it on, as many in Spain. The Searcher should find an attractive company, get the investors on board for an acquisition and close the deal. In the second phase, the Searcher will then run the company for a period of 4-7 years and should grow it to meet the targets negotiated with the investors. Finally, the company is either sold to a Private Equity or absorbed by the Searcher. Objectives of the Club: 1. Increase the visibility of the Search Fund model within IE’s community: It is a rapidly growing business model, supported by the top Business Schools around the world. We want to give the opportunity to students and alumni to be familiar with Search Funds and to attract talent towards the model. 2. Connect Potential Searchers with Investors: The IE Campus is a great space to promote entrepreneurship and Innovative Business Models. We want to create a space of networking for the potential searchers to reach the investors and active searchers to share ideas and pitch their proposals. 3. Create Jobs and Opportunities: We want to increase the work possibilities for students at IE through internship and entrepreneurship opportunities that will benefit both the students and the School. We are a team of highly motivated students and Alumni, close to the model and ready to put our 100% to make this club a global reference for other Business Schools.
