The Pasteur Institute of Guadeloupe plays a major role in research, teaching, training, & Public Health in Caribbean. Current activities include Research on TB, Hygiene & the Environment, Medical Biology & Emerging diseases. The agreement creating the Pasteur Institute of Guadeloupe was signed October 4, 1948 by the Prefect of Guadeloupe and the Director of the Institut Pasteur. Current activities include: (i) A Research Laboratory on Tuberculosis and Mycobacteria - a World Health Organization designated Supranational TB Reference Laboratory (ii) Laboratory of Hygiene & the Environment - a modern COFRAC accredited laboratory active in sanitary control (iii) Laboratory of Medical Biology (iv) A vaccination center, and (v) A Laboratory on Emerging Diseases.
