Computing Kids is an educational enrichment program for children in grades K-8 in the greater Seattle area. We partner with schools, community groups, and parents to bring computer science to students in an engaging, hands-on setting. We believe all students should be given the opportunity to learn how to use technology in innovative ways and become confident with learning computer programming. Students are frequently discouraged about computing by factors that make the subject seem dull or mystifying. We create fun, adventurous, and collaborative environments that makes learning computer science accessible to all students. Our goal is to help build a generation of students who are passionate about technology and are excited about using the power of computers to solve problems and better their communities. The critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills students develop in computer science classes can help them excel in all areas of the Common Core Curriculum. Kids who learn to become creators, rather than just consumers, of technology. Our students learn practical skills: These skills allow them to: Create video games and web pages Channel their artistic vision Build cell phone apps Solve problems with confidence Programming robots Become technology creators We select enthusiastic instructors—with backgrounds in computer science, math, and teaching. Our educators are focus on creating a classroom environment that inspires learners from every background to get wild about learning computer science.
